Complete guide to managing students in Lumus LMS
Student Management
The Student Management section allows administrators to create, edit, and manage all student profiles in the system. This includes adding new students, updating information, uploading photos, and assigning students to classes.

Overview
Student Management is a core feature that enables you to:
- Create new student profiles
- Edit existing student information
- Upload and manage student photos
- Assign students to classes
- View student details and history
- Generate student IDs automatically
Creating a New Student
Step 1: Navigate to Students
- Log in to the administrator dashboard
- Open Students under Overall Management
- Click "+ Add Student"

Step 2: Fill in Student Information
Enter the following in the Add New Student form:
- Name: Student's full name
- Email: Contact email (optional)
- Contact: Phone number with country code
- Date of Birth: Student's date of birth
- Address: Residential address
- Country, State, City: Location fields
- Class Enrollment (optional): Select one or more classes — grouped by level and subject

Step 3: Save Student Profile
- Review all entered information
- Click "Save" or "Create Student"
- The system will automatically generate a unique student ID (e.g., STD-0001, STD-0002)
Student ID Generation
Student IDs are automatically generated in the format STD-XXXX. Each new student receives a sequential ID number.
Editing Student Information
Accessing Student Profile
- Go to Student Management
- Search for the student by name or ID
- Click on the student's name or the "Edit" button

Updating Information
- Make changes to any field
- Update the photo if needed
- Change class assignment if required
- Click "Save Changes" to update
Managing Student Photos
Uploading a Photo
- Open the student profile
- Click on the current photo or "Change Photo" button
- Select a new image file
- The photo will be updated immediately
Photo Requirements
- Format: JPG, PNG, or GIF
- Size: Recommended 500x500 pixels or larger
- File Size: Maximum 5MB
Assigning Students to Classes
Single Assignment
- Open the student profile
- Navigate to the "Class Assignment" section
- Select a class from the dropdown
- Click "Assign"
Bulk Assignment
- Go to Students
- Click Bulk Enroll
- Download the bulk enrollment CSV template and fill in student and class data
- Choose whether to skip or update duplicate records
- Upload the file to import and enroll students in one step
The template includes columns for class IDs (semicolon-separated for multiple classes), student details, optional custom fees per class, and up to two parent contacts. You can also download the same template from the Bulk Enroll dialog in the admin portal.

Viewing Student Details
The student profile page displays:
- Basic Information: Name, ID, address, contact
- Photo: Student profile picture
- Class Information: Current class assignment
- Parent Information: Associated parent account
- Academic History: Attendance, assignments, grades
- Fee Information: Payment status and history
Searching and Filtering Students
Search Functionality
- Use the search bar to find students by:
- Student ID (e.g., STD-0001)
- Student name
- Parent name
- Class name
Filter Options
Filter students by:
- Class: View all students in a specific class
- Status: Active, Inactive, Graduated
- Parent: Students linked to a specific parent
Best Practices
Troubleshooting
Issue: Student ID not generating automatically
- Solution: Ensure all required fields are filled before saving
Issue: Photo upload failing
- Solution: Check file format and size. Ensure the file is under 5MB
Issue: Cannot assign student to class
- Solution: Verify the class exists and has available capacity
